Ingredients

  • 400 g firm tofu

Gochujang Marinade

  • 2 tablespoon Gochujang
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice syrup or agave syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic granules

Instructions

  • Press the tofu to remove excess water. You can do this by wrapping the block of tofu in a clean kitchen towel and placing a heavy object, such as a cast iron skillet or a chopping board, on top of it for at least 10 minutes.
  • Cut the tofu into slices or cubes.
  • Mix all the ingredients for the marinade in a bowl.
  • Place the tofu in the bowl and coat evenly in the marinade.
  • Cover the tofu and place it in the fridge overnight or for at least 30 minutes. Flip the tofu halfway to ensure it's evenly coated.
  • Preheat an oven to 180°C fan (360°F).
  • Place the marinated tofu on a baking tray. Line with kitchen foil for easier cleanup.
  • Brush some of the remaining marinade over the tofu then place in the oven for 10 minutes until the tofu turns golden.
  • Remove from the oven, turn, then brush the tofu again with the remainder of the marinade. Return to the oven for a further 10 minutes or until golden.
  • Remove from the oven and serve your Sweet and Spicy Gochujang Tofu with fluffy white rice and steamed vegetables.
